Our trip to W. VA.

July 29, 2006
8:15 am

We are in W. Va. In Charleston! B and I came over yesterday so we can pick up the girls from UB. Tamarack is the half way point from his house to ours. So we decided to stay in Charleston for the nite and meet up with them today. Unfortunately it’s only rained since we got here, but living in Germany for all those years you learn not to let a little rain stop you. I didn’t take any pix, but we walked all over Capital Street, and Currier Street in the warm summer rain. We stopped in the famous Peanut Shop and OH the chocolate coverd everything was sooo good, and B bought the hot and spicy mix…he enjoyed them too! We had lunch at Blossom Deli which is the neatest little deli that’s been operating since the 30’s! It’s still decorated in that same kind of style and I kept imaging Veronica, Archie and Jughead would walk in at any moment! B had a Greek salad which he loved, but I stuck with the typical American choices….roast beef on onion bread with cheese and horseradish sauce! Lol We planned on walking to the Capital building, but we went the direction of the river (Kanawha…) instead. After the long walk back to the hotel, we decided to check out the pool and hot tub! There was NO ONE around! It was so lovely to have the whole place to ourselves. They even had a sauna….I asked B what would happen if we Saunaed like they do in Germany (nakey) lol….He figured they’d probably ask us to leave! Last nite the hotel had a manager’s welcome. Free drinks and appetizers. There was fruit and veggies with ranch dip (which B could eat) and there was semi spicy cheese dip and chips that went SO well with the drink of the nite….Margaritas!! OMGOSh we had a blast! The bartender’s name is Richard. And he was a big flirt, but fun. He could make a seriously good (and not even the crushed kind which I prefer) Margarita! I think I had 7 of them…but by the 6th one I told B I knew I was done, cuz 'I didn’t want to end up with an overhang in the morning '
BWAA HAA HAAA
Richard was fixing drinks for me 2 at a time!! And he was giving B a goldeny beer also 2 at a time.. We had WAAAAY too much fun! Grin IN between the drinks, he was fixing a half a glass of some shot mixture….a HALF a GLASS shot! I couldn’t even drink it all at once! He told me I was wasting a good thing…lol and to drink it up in one….it tasted like Lemonade…when I asked him what it was he just said it was 7up and Orange Juice….yeah right! This welcome went from 530-730. About 6 or so I was chatting with Richard while he was fixing my drink, and I mentioned that if I kept this up. I’d never make it to dinner. He asked where we were going, and I said I didn’t really know yet. He suggested we eat at the hotel, then he looks at me and says “NO, here’s what you’re gonna do…take this drink, walk over to the check in counter, tell them to make you a reservation at Soho’s for 8:00. You are dressed perfectly for this place, casual up scale kinda place with fantastic food! Start with the proscetta….it’s to die for!” (Had shrimp and cheese on it!! And it WAS to die for!! LOL) “ You know of course you are going to stay with me until 730….so the shuttle can pick you up at 745 and take you the Soho’s and then just call them and they will come and pick you up again. You’re gonna love it.” It was a conversation right out of a movie!! We didn’t stay with Richard the whole time tho…we knew we really WOULDN”T make it to dinner! We started drinking water, every other drink, and we left for about half an hour and went across the street to the mall. It’s one of the largest Malls in the Eastern US. We rode up and down the escalator, went up the 3rd floor food court, and had a free sample of some delicious Chicken teriyaki, then ended up in Lane Bryant’s! LOL I bought 2 tank tops and tried on a really kool (and expensive $45.00) shirt, which B said honestly made me look Pregnant. NO THANKS! LoL…I called Ursula several times to share my fun with her…I know she musta thought I was nuts when I called her from the dressing room, laughing hysterically just because I was in LB trying on clothes….sure struck ME as funny at the time..here I am in WVA. , staying at the ever so lovely Embassy Suites, feelin no pain….and what do I do? I go to LB’s and try on clothes! Grin….We went back to see Richard, had a couple more drinks, and then went in the shuttle to the restaurant. SOOO yummy! But I was so full from the drinks..I ended up bringing most of my chicken cacciatore home! Hopefully I won’t forget it in the fridge when we leave! Took some aspirn with more water before we went to bed last nite, and woke up feeling fine! Going to the complimentary made to order, breakfast in a few mintues…Later!!! Me

Sneak Peak

ok, here is the babe' set....maybe I can only upload one photo per post...look for this and 3 more new plates on my site on Friday!!

couple of new stamp plates..

This collage stamp is availble on my web site. Featuring several of my family members this stamp is near and dear to my heart. Coming soon is a great babe stamp plate! These lil darlings are just gorgeous! Due to be in stock early next week, they will be posted on my site sometime on Friday. Well, I can't seem to get the photo to upload...hmmmm

Love Actually

I worked hard all day today...got a really great plate of stamps done...half of a second plate done...and still managed to hang out with the little ones a bit too. SO I rewarded myself with a viewing of I think my all time favorite movie...Love Actually...with such a fantastic cast....Emma Thompson, Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Prof. Snape (who's real name I will never be able to remember-lol) and a slew of other talented actors....I can watch that movie over and over...my only problem is that I can't share it with my kids...sigh...being that they are under the age of 16 (and even that's pushing it really) I just can't let them watch that movie...the one couple and their activities is just wayyy more than I want my 12 and 14 yr old to see....lol but from beginning to end...I laugh, cry, and sigh happily as everything turns out in the end, and I agree that if you just look, LOVE IS ALL AROUND US.....Me

Stamp happy!

Today I am feeling up, and positive about this new venture of mine! I have placed several ads, uploaded free links on several sites, and I'm trying to get the word out about my stamps. I only hope I am creating the right kind of images that will encourage repeat customers!! lol That part of the business is quite nerve racking! I love to spend the day creating...I worked all day yesterday on new images....but the rest..the book keeping and the ad creating, and the constant updating of my site...WOW..it's easy to get overwhelmed! I thank God every day I have such a suppportive family! Now if I only had a few extra hands, and maybe another YOUNGER brain too! grin...I keep praying...oh, and I hope to get some feedback that will make my site better, stronger...with even better images...but i think most folks are too polite to give me really good feedback! lol....but then agian....I'd take it to heart, and be sad for days if anyone really said anything that was mean! double edged sword I guess!-Me

Email News Campaign-Friend or Foe??

So I'm curious how many businesses use this method to stay in contact with their customers? It seems like such a neat idea...but I wonder if it's more of an infringement upon their free time? Do they look at my newsletter as a sort of spam? LOL I spend HOURS putting my newsletter together...choosing the right photos, writing up the little blurbs of interest...I know I don't like to read a lot when I get newsletters so I try not to put too much reading in there...course, I've only done TWO so far!! and I only have 18 subscribers!! LOL...so I hope to improve each one...adding techniques, and sales etc... But is it effective? What's the best way to get the word out about my art, any how? Inquiring minds REALLY want to know!-Me

You ever look for places to advertise on line? Jeesh..there's a million sites! They all say they are great, and they ALL want my $$. So just how do you choose? How do you know if the site is even on the level? I have a magazine ad coming out in October...that's totally exciting. Mag is called Stamper's Sampler. But I also want to advertise on line...I approached a really large web site...but YOWZA the $$ for just one month! I about keeled over! So..what's going to give me the best bang for my buck??

This is one of my favorite stamps! Designed from a photograph I took of 2 of my daycare cuties.
This ATC was created by first brayering the bg with Chalk ink fall colors. (the ones in the flower/triangle case) I stamped the large stamp first and colored in with watercolor pencils, added the word Trust (from the same stamp set) and I was done!

HeyLOOK!! I figured out my time zone!!

I guess I was too tired last nite, and just missed it!! lol

Ramblings of a tired me.....

Ok, so I spent over an hour last nite trying to figure out what the heck time zone I'm in so my clock would be correct...I never did figure it out! oh well, going to bed at 2 am,and getting up at 630 certainly takes a toll on my psyche...LOL Only have 2 kids today...E is in daycamp, and K is still on her trip. J went to visit some friends....so just me and the girls til Thursday. What to do?? LOL Here I am writing a note in here...I feel tired and non-directional...lol You ever have one of those days? On an up note, the mail is due in about an hour or so...ok, it could show up anytime between now (1130) and 2pm! But I KNOW my stamps will be coming in today. How do I know that? Well, it's not some secret special ability..that's for certain! But only because I would have had them on Saturday IF I'd been home..sigh..I sure hated seeing that yellow card in the mail box.. I need to get my packaging ready for the new rubber...I got my peg board painted this morning..and all the stamps in inventory are hanging neatly in their rows...at least I got them out of the storage boxes. I need to work on the digital Wedding album for the flower shop, and some paper art too...I think I need a nap! -Me

Must Love Dogs

I just saw that movie on HBO..or somewhere...I just loved it! I know it's 1:30 in the am, and I have to get up for work in about 5 hours, but I'm so wide awake, I decided to create a blog instead!! LOL
Me! Who has problems journaling a page in a scrapbook, and now I'm going to start writing on line? OH well, we'll see just how long I keep it up! Even now, I'm trying to type softly so as not to wk dh...
OK< so back to the movie..FINALLY a movie that was good all the way thru, AND had a great ending...yeah!!! Love JOhn Cusack!! Really...and oh Dermont Mulrooney (sp??) WHAT a hotty!! Have always loved Christopher Plummer too. (He has aged SO well!!) Now, don't ask me who the females were in the movie, because beyond Stockard Channing, I have no idea..but the cast worked so well together. I loved the whole caring large family scenes...
Well, I suppose I really should try to get some sleep now....wonder if I'll be able to find this blog tomorrow? (Alzheimers is hell!)-Me
